I share joint custody of my 8 yr old daughter. The bio father has visitation every other weekend from 6pm Friday til 6pm Sunday. We were never married. He hasn't gotten her since November of 2004. He now owes $1750 in child support.
I'm getting married next summer and my soon to be husband lives in North Carolina. We have a big house there and lots of land where we will be putting our farm. I do have a court order for visitation and child support but the bio father doesn't follow it at all. He let me know that he will fight til his death to see that I don't move with my daughter to NC. What steps do I need to take? It doesn't state anywhere in the court other about one of the parents moving to another state.
We can't live in GA. My soon to be husband has a wonderful job and we already have a house and land paid for. My daughter will be in a loving family atmosphere in NC.
Please help! I have worried myself sick over this.

Before or shortly after the marriage, go to the court and notify them that you are moving out of state with the child to NC where the stepfather has a good job and the child will be residing with you. He can be upset, but under the circumstances, I doubt the court will object so long as you do not obstruct a relationship between father- child.

The biological father and I were never married.
We're moving next summer. How soon do I need to go to the court and notify them of the move? Where do I go in the courthouse? Who do I need to speak with?

I live in North Carolina and all I had to do was to talk to the child support enforcement in the coutry that I reside in, now it will be harder for them to get him to come to court because he will have to come to North Carolina to go to court if the money isnt paid, ect. They usually take care of the rest. So just find the child support enforcement agency in the county that you are going to be living in and talked to them. Hope this helps
