I really do not know what to do. I started a new job on 05/24/04 and i just completed my probation period on 08/24/04. On 09/09/04 i turned in a request to be off on 09/13/04 becos i had a doctor's appointment scheduled. But before my doctor's appointment i started having terrible pains, which went on till saturday 09/18/04. I was not able to make it to work all thru last week, but i kept calling my manager to leave a message about my being unable to come in each day.
Today 09/19/04 a colleague of mine called and said she wanted to give me heads-up on a situation at work. There is a news going around the office that i will be fired as soon as i get to work tomorrow 09/20/04. I really do not know what to do. I have my doctor's excuse ffor the whole week. I really need to know what their right is to fire me.

Your employer has the right to terminate any person for any reason, so long as the reason is not due to discrimination OR that there isn't a formal agreement in place that restricts the employers' right to terminate (such as with a Collective Bargaining Agreement).
