my father passed away june 20, 2004. I was hired may 3rd,2004. i had to take a week out fo his funeral and also find aplace to live. my two oldr brothers cleaned out the house the dy after the funral. i had lived with my father for the 38 years of my life. i then had to take another week out of work to get my things out of the house. during this time i also became very distressed and depressed i epressed this to my bosses. ijust recently came down with serious esr infection which set off my vertigo. my doctor would not let me drive. igot a call on sept 18th and was terminated. Help

Because of the at-will doctrine, employers can generally fire an employee for any reason, so long as it’s not illegal. If it is for an illegal reason, it is wrongful termination. Illegal reasons include, discrimination based on gender, race, national origin, or disability; retaliation, i.e. reporting illegal actions by the employer; defamation of character; or breach of an employment contract. If an employee feels he or she has been wrongfully terminated, the employee should file a charge with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
