I have a business in Canada and now want to expand it to the US. I
have registered a corporation but when I tried to get a merchant
account, most US financial institutions asked me to provide my SSN,
which I don't have.

How to get a SSN for Canadian business man?

Why do they want it? If it's some IRS reporting requirement or
something, an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN, from
the IRS, form W-7) might do. If it's to look for credit history or
suchlike, you really need to talk to the financial institution and
explain your problem.

If you're planning on doing work in the US for your business, you
probably have to face immigration status issues.
