I have this situation at my job. The new person whom has been there for over a year now. Has given my (our) boss a 2 week notice. Sounds good!
Well, my boss gave her what she wanted per hour & granted her the 40+ hours to go with it. Just to keep her on. Now, my questions is? To get this 40+ hours guess who's hours will be cut for this new employee. MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can my employeer do this?

While unfortunate, yes your employer can do this as long as they are not making the decision based on discriminatory factors such as sex, age, race and religion.
