I'm going from F1 to J1 to continue doing some research after graduation

Applying to law schools, for matriculation in Fall 2004

Assuming I am granted a waiver from the 2 year home residency requirement:
-Can I request a change of status from J1 to F1, from WITHIN the USA?
-Can I get an F-1 stamp without leaving?

much thanks,
sachin

Shouldn't be a problem if you continuously maintained status.
-Can I get an F-1 stamp without leaving?

No - you will have to obtain that in the consulate of your home country.
You'll need it only if you want to leave and re-enter the US.
