View Full Version : New York - Advanced Parole

My wife filed for my Green Card on 1 March 2003. On 3 March we received
the return receipt and the small yellow till receipt that means they
cashed the cheque. No note or typed letter.

I had applied for Advanced Parole on business grounds, as I work for the
British Consulate-General and travel back to London a couple of times a
year. I stated my intended dates of travel (July). I have not booked
any flights as I wanted to make sure I had the necessary paperwork.

As of today we have not heard or received anything from the INS. I am
becoming slightly concerned because I had heard that the work
authorisation should come through in 30 to 60 days and the Advanced
Parole in 5 months.

One morning last week I went down to 26 Federal Plaza armed with copies
of all the forms we filed. I was not prepared for the volume of people
that were waiting at 5am so decided to abort the mission.

Is it normal not to have heard anything for this length of time? My
intended date of travel I put down on the I-131 has now passed. Does
that mean I have to reapply?

I am currently on an A2 visa, which I have to relinquish. I entered the
US on a visa waiver and overstayed by 2 weeks in 1997 before getting my
current job and visa status. Since 11 September I had been getting
pulled aside at POE and had the finger pointed at me. They can't not
grant me the Green Card on those grounds surely?

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I suppose we're all in
the same boat.

Cheers

Brian
