Hello everybody!
My name is Edka, I am 24 and I am from Eastern Europe. My husband and I moving to NC, so we will have to transfer our paperwork from GA to NC. We got married in 2001, filed in 2002 april with a lawyer , and so far we didnt hear from the Atlanta office other than getting an employment authorazation. My AP was denied.
Well right now I am very worried, because I heard all the stories about how INS loses or delays papers when you transfer between offices. Ok. The situation is like this. I am very scared of my stuff being delayed, because I miss my parents and my grandma very much, and I havent seen them for more than 3 years, and I cant travel.
I am sure that lot of you dealing with missing your family members, but I am getting close to being very depressed, and that also hurting my relationship with my husband.
So if some of you could send me some of your experiences about changing address/ moving to a different state, I'd like to hear good stories to get my spirit up, and also the not so good stories, to know what do I need to watch out for. Love to hear any suggestions aswell!!
Thank you so very much!!!

My wife and I moved from the area served by the Atlanta office to
Virginia while her AOS was in process. This move actually accelerated
her interview (it was last month). We weren't expecting to be called in
by Atlanta until late this year, and the Arlington office is processing
these faster. There are others who have had problems with such
transfers, but in principle, your date of receipt should place you in
the appropriate spot in the new queue. You need to inform your new
district office of the new address so they can request your file, and I
would suggest a subsequent, in-person visit to make sure it happens.
BTW, why was your AP application denied? Do you have an out-of-status
period on record? I don't mean to pry, but AP shouldn't generally be
denied to those with a clean status history, and I can say that if you
re-apply in NC after you report the address change, they won't consider
your request until they have your AOS file transferred from Atlanta,
which could take quite a while. This was a major headache for us. Even
after our file was transferred, the AP office in Arlington wasn't
notified that the file was in a different office in the same building,
so we needed to go back in person to make something happen.
Hang in there. This process is horrible to endure, but there is an
end in sight.
