Hi!
I just received the letter saying I was selected for the DV2004 with the rank EU20XXX. I did consular processing. 1- What are my chances to receive the green card? 2 - I sent the filed paperwork immediatly to the consular; does that give me more chances to have an interview earlier or is it only by rank number? 3 - When does the interviews start: Oct 1rst? 4 - How long before the interview am I informed? 5 - Does everyone receive an interview among the 100000? 6 - How strict is the consular with the completeneww of the documents
Last year i won a greencard and i did a lot of research....
1) good .. you are from Europe ? In Germany nearly all winners get an
interview.
2) hmm... Although all people tell you sending as fast as possible, i
believe .. NO
After October the consular will inform about 8000 people in Europe every
month for
an interview.
If you hold the rank EU20000, you will get invitation around Januar.
I had case number EU 27xxx and was invited in March last year.
3) yep
4) a few weeks
5) no
6) very, very strict.

Lothar,
You mentioned that requirements for documents are very strict:
They require original documents and translations into English?
Should translation be notarized?
Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
I read a lot of discussion boards and newsgroups before my interview. There
was one big
consulate in Frankfurt, Germany which dont request translated documents. If
i would have choosen
another consulate, I probably had to bring the translations.
But in Frankfurt the original documents are sufficient.
Maybe you call the consular officers and ask them.
In my opinion always choose the biggest consulate for the easiest way.
good luck
Lothar

Hi Alex and Lothar:
You two guys are quite right. If you read the DV-Winner's Info
carefully, there is indeed conflicting information, because part of
the package refers to change of status (which is to be done in the US)
as well as to the normal consular processing. They therefore write
that all documents have to be translated and later in the info, they
write that you are allowed to bring the documents in English or in the
official language of the country where the embassy in located. Germany
is clear: in english or german. Austria the same. In Switzerland we
officially have 4 languages. Could you imagine the faces, if you
brought some documents in rumantsch (reto-romanisch = our fourth
official language!) The current boss of the visa section doesn't even
speak German! If one wants to ensure that being selected in the green
card lottery also means obtaining the greencard, it is definitely
worth paying a few bucks to an experiences service like ours (Green
Card Support Service) to make the application or latest upon winning
the green card hiring us for winner-support. We actually offer
different packages there, which ensure that nobody pays too much, but
gets what they need. If you have any questions, pleas send me an
E-Mail at matthias.pfeiffer@greenard.ch or visit our homepage

PS: Green Card Winners cannot choose the consulate. Germany only does
DV-processing in Frankfurt, Switzerland only in Bern and Austria only
in Vienna. One post per country for DV-Winners. No chance to do it in
Hamburg or even Berlin !!!
"Al Green" <alnews@earthlink.net> wrote in message news:<pan.2003.07.05.17.06.02.506474@earthlink.net>... Thanks Lothar, I agree with you - it may depend on the consulate. The best way is inquire at the consulate. I think some consulates don't require the translations if the documents are in the language of the country where the consulate is located. They probably will need a translation if the document is from a third country. Regards, Alex.
