Curious...I use to have in 1969 when i was a kid a plastic coated card with green wavey lines across it and then we moved to canada, I would assume that this was my green card ?. Anyways we had lived in the US for years and now 30 years later im wanting to go back...because i was a kid i did not understand the power of this card and today as an adul i do. Could i get this re-instated or something or would i have to start fresh. Also im married so what other problems am i facing.

You have to start over, probably. Here is some light reading to explain it:

http://foreignborn.com/visas_imm/entering_us/12returning-residentalien.htm

And here's a site with basic information about applying for U.S. permanent
resident status:

To add to this, if you are a Canadian permanent resident but not a
Canadian citizen, you should think strongly about obtaining
citizenship before going to the US. Under Canada's new law, if you
spend less than 2 years in Canada in a 5 year period, you lose your PR
no matter how long you lived in Canada beforehand.

Obviously if you have another citizenship you'll lose if you become
Canadian, that's something else to consider. Just be aware of your
options and don't lose your Canadian PR by accident.
