Hi! I'm new to all this, so you'll have to bear with me.
Basically, if I've been offered a perminent job in the US, how long
(roughly) would it take me to get a visa, and so how long would it be
before I could actually start working? I know it must vary depending on
the circumstances, but are we talking weeks, months or (God forbid!)
years? I am a UK citizen.
Any response would be appreciated.
Thanks.

It depends really on what type of job and what class of visa you are
going for. Most people go the H1B route so you would be talking
about a couple of months without any hiccups before you're ready to
get on a plane.
