I am married to an American citizen.
I have applied to remove my conditional permanent resident status (I-751),
and received my receipt and 1-yr extension in March '03.

I intend to travel out of the USA in Sept. and Oct. '03.
Can anyone tell me how much notice the INS gives for the appointment and/or
interview?
I am concerned about being out of the US at the time I am given the
interview date and not having enough time to return.

TIA for any help.

With a bit of luck you will not need to have an interview if all your
paperwork was in order...
time depends a lot on where you sent it. ie which service centre?

Thanks for your reply. We sent it to Vermont. If there's no interview, does
that mean we won't be called in for an appointment at all?

Thanks.

Once you've received your permanent green card approval letter from VSC and
it doesn't require an interview, the only thing you'd go into your local
BCIS office for is a stamp in your passport if you so desired while waiting
for your permanent green card to arrive. This isn't required and you can go
in at your convenience. Steve chose to have his stamped just in case he
wished to go somewhere as he didn't want to carry the letter around. As it
turned out he did need the I-551 stamp as our BMV wouldn't renew his
driver's license without proof of legal residency and the letter wasn't
enough for them.

From what I read elsewhere, I believe Vermont is current working on
I-751 received around Dec 01.. But of course nothing is assured...I am
sure others who are waiting on Vermont may have further info..
