Hello:
I finally received my receipt for N-400 in the mail today. It
mentions "Receipt with Exception". SundarV, I think I remember you
had a similar case, am I right? Also L.A. from Chicago (original msg
below, I am from Chicago too) had a similar situation. If you guys
are reading this, what do you think this is all about? I know that I
had my check for $310, 2 pics and copy of G/C back and front with my
application (Checked the envelope 2000 times before I sent it out).
Do you think it is something that I should worry about? Steve'n'Lisa
(and others), did your receipt have the same thing? I applied based
on 5 yrs LPR, so it should be pretty straightforward.
Thanks for your input.

Hi All,
I sent in my N-400 a couple of weeks ago (to Nebraska -I live in
Chicago),
and just received a Notice of Action from INS, called a "Receipt with
Exception". At some point it says:
"The above application has been received by our office and is in
process,
but has been noted with one or more of the following exception(s):
Missing
Evidence(s) - your application was missing evidence(s) that you will
need to
provide at the time of your naturalization interview. You will be
notified
under separate notice of the necessary evidence(s) that you will be
required
to bring to your interview. Do not submit any evidence(s) by mail"
First set of questions: Has anyone seen this sort of thing? What
evidence
could they popssibly have in mind (I sent everything that the
instruction in
form N-400 asked for)?
On a different note. The Receipt also says:
"You will be notified of the date and place of your interview when you
have
been scheduled by the local INS office. You should expect to be
notified
within 54 days of this notice"
Second set of questions: Does this mean that the backlog for
naturalization
is just 54 days? I was expecting to wait many many months before being
scheduled for an interview... How long does it normally take between
the
notification for the interview and the actual interview?
Please, any comment would be greatly appreciated.
