I work at a hotel with a pool. I work an 8 hour shift sometime 8 1/2. They dont pay us for our one 1/2 hour break and when we ask for our break they tell us, "well when we get someone over there you will get your break" :eek: . Then they send someone over who isnt even lifeguard certified.

Are we allowed on 1/2hour breaks? and is there a certain amount of time that we can work before getting our breaks?

NY reg's require that a break of 30 minutes be provided for the "noonday meal" which they define as being between 11am and 2pm. As long as you are relieved of your duties during this period, they have no obligation to pay you for the time. Nor do they have to provide you with a break at the same time each day.
