I recently began development on an 100+ home neighborhood, the roads, gutters sidewalks and all other prep work has been completed. Yesterday I sat down with the builders and was met with extreme aggression. They demanded that I sign a marketing agreement stating that if there are more than three complaints about my work ethic, I would be fired. I have been in real estate for over 20 years and have never heard a complaint pertaining to my standard of work. I, of course did not sign this agreement. My reasoning is this: the builders each have their favorite agents and want to get rid of me so that they will be able to list the homes with their chosen agents. Also I found the contract to be discriminatory on the grounds that the builders have never before made an agent sign a proposed "marketing agreement". What should I do

It sounds like you are viewed as a vendor, rather than an employee. You can read about the difference at: http://www.dol.gov/esa/regs/compliance/whd/whdfs35.htm

If you are a vendor, you should post this under the business law section.
