A corrupt system? I sounds as if you were using a "left turn lane" to merge
into traffic (not legal) and got caught. It is hard to tell from your
description.

news:2506-3EFB9F26-424@storefull-2151.public.lawson.webtv.net... Do you think I'm being robbed by a corrupt system? I was stopped in the middle of the road waiting for a chance to get into the flow of traffic,my car was straight so I had to look back to see if it was clear for me to go.When I pulled out into traffic I went to the 3rd lane to the right which is the last lane. The cop stopped me and said it was a left turn too wide, since my car was straight, facing the way I was going it wasn't a left turn,I was going to the right as soon as the way was clear. It would have only been a left turn if I hadn't stopped after coming out of the side street. The area has three lanes of traffic in each direction, this area is not an intersection. I already know that cops lie and it's his word against mine so I won't even try to explain what I've just wrote in court because the judge will accept his word over mine, they all work together you know to rob the public. What I need to know is if you've ever heard or read anything that says it's wrong to make a left turn and go immediately to the right lane which is the 3rd lane? Remember the area is not an intersection with lights, there are three lanes for each direction with a lot of side streets.I was stopped in the middle of the road in the turning lane facing the direction I was going so I had to look back to see when the way was clear. In my opinion three lanes is not wide. Also going immediately to the lane you need to be in before traffic catches up is more safer than trying to get over later because some people don't pay attention or care about your turn signals. I didn't do what I've been accused of but If I had done it I don't see anything wrong with it and even though I didn't do it it's what I have to defend myself against because it's what the police officer wrote. Excuse me for repeating myself in this message but I want to make sure you understand the situation and my question. One cop has already responded on a previous message and accused me of admitting to something I didn't say,I think he just didn't have anything better to do so he wanted to upset someone but it didn't work,I'm fully aware of what bored people like that do and won't be pulled in,they need to get a life.

Let me see if I can explain this a little more,I was not turning left
from a turning lane, this was not an intersection, there are no lights so
I didn't have any turn signal or certain lain to be in,I had just come
out from a side street.

I was stopped in the middle of the road waiting for cars to pass,my car
was facing the direction in which I needed to go so when the way was
clear I moved into traffic and went to the last lane to the right which
is the third lane so this can't be an improper lane change or a wide
left turn because it wasn't a left turn,my car was facing the direction
of the traffic.

The only way it would have been a left turn is if I had come out from
the side street without stopping before making the left turn into
traffic but remember I was stopped in the middle of road with my car
already facing the direction I was going.

I hope this is a better explanation of the situation because it's the
best I can come up with using email.

Even if I had come out of the side street without stopping and made a
left turn into the third lane I don't see anything wrong with that if
oncoming traffic is far enough back for it to be done safely.

I don't have a bad attitude about cops,I'm just being honest about how I
feel and I do believe this cop just wanted to bother me rather than do
something more important like arresting some criminals. This is why I
consider it a corrupt system, people have to waste time going to court or
pay the ticket just to get it over with because they don't want the
hassle because of the intimidation on the mail in instructions which
tell you about court costs plus the fine if you take it to court. They're
counting on the fact that most people don't want to take the risk of
losing in court and have to pay all that money.

I think Ruger has interpreted the scenario correctly, and if so I'm glad you were pulled over and ticketed, although the violation you were cited for may have been incorrect. I have lived in Springfield, MO for 7 years and this town is full of retards like you- it's almost like that's how people here were taught to drive. Here, you can drive down any major four-lane road with a center "left-turn lane" and there are people just like you "parked" in the center lane waiting to merge with traffic to the right of themselves. THAT IS NOT WHAT THE CENTER LANE IS FOR. It is for people who are already on said road (you know, the one containing the "left-turn lane") and want to make a left turn, not for cocksuckers like you who are making a left-turn and trying to merge into traffic off of a side road. While you're sitting on your rear in the left-turn lane, don't be surprised to learn that there are people passing you by on your right, cursing your wretched name because they need to get over into the left-turn lane to make a left-turn (Imagine that!) but they can't because some clueless idiot (You!) managed to pass their driver's test and are parked in their way. So pay your ticket and shut the hell up! And don't ever misuse the left-turn lane again.

The way I read it, the ticketed driver was making a left and ended in the right-most lane on a three lane street when they turned.

Yeup. That's a VERY wide turn and a danger to everyone.

If you take a left, stay in the left most lane. Then put your blinker on to merge over two lanes (one at a time) until you finally reach the right-most lane.

You do not get to cut across because it works for YOU. The system is not corrupt. Review the highway and roadway safety rules and try taking the exam for a refresher. It may save your life someday.

To Driver8: Though you were slightly harsh, i completely agree. I was thinking to myself, when I finally understood what the hell this guy was trying to explain, damn this dude doesn't know to drive. I mean don't people know how to use your mirrors? How can you just freeze up and stop in the middle of the road looking behind you. You'll never be able to go unless the road is completely clear( cos if you stop like: derrr.. i do not know what i am doo-i-ing, your obviously not gonna muster up the balls to gun it in front of another car..). Anyway, I just wanted to comment because you had the balls to say whats on your mind. :D And that the DMV is a money sucking leech that will let any moron get a license because they know the tickets that that moron will incur will feed them more money. The more morons on the road the better! Don't worry, we have a fine thats just right for you!
