I think you've got your percentages backwards. I see this stuff all the time, and I know there aren't that many cops out there that would make the amount I see a small percent. I'd imagine at least half of cops drive recklessly while on duty on a regular basis. In my fairly small town with not many cops (I recognize most of them) I see most driving recklessly and/or breaking laws regularly. The frequency which I see such behavior increases as I drive through larger towns or cities with more roads, also in a similarly sized town that has part of a highway running through it. Well, if it happens in Dip**** Township, NJ it happens everywhere, Cory? I was referring to all across NJ on highways and such. I rearely ever see the local cops as they aren't on patrol much. Normally I see them at public type stuff (announcements, meetings and such) and dealing with private complaints (vandalism and such by local kids).

Well I would have to say that on the Highways and such across NJ it is
hard to have somesort of Headlights On Detail. Most of the state
highways, (Garden State Parkway, NJ Turnpike, Rt 80) are all patrolled
by the NJ State Police. There are not as many troppers on the road as
there should be. It is tough in NJ to have some sort of road block to
check for lights on. On the major highways the troopers are usually
handeling motor vehicle accidents and such. On the secondary highways
at least in Bergen County, they are patrolled by the local
municipalities and the County Police. But again on the highways it is
hard to really concentrate on this problem. I am sure that if there
is a more serious motor vehicle infraction that would get a person
stopped and the person does not have their headlights on, they might
also get a ticket for that.

I dont know where you are from saying that you dont see the local cops
on patrol. We have 4 cars on the road usually all the time. That
does not include other officers that are say at meetings and so forth.
But again we do have to handle and call that comes in ( ie parking
complaint, medical call, or anything else). But when we are not on
those calls we are on the road. I am in a small town about 1 1/2
miles in area. So with 4 cars on the road most people will see a
patrol car a couple times a day.....
