I am from Tennessee and I need advice for my mother. She is 50 yrs old and have custody of my cousin who is now 16yrs old. My mother had custody of Pam since the age of 2 because Pam's mother passed away during that time. To make a long story short, my mother took very good care of Pam. She's given Pam the best of everything, including guidence. The problem is Pam is now 16 and feels that my mother is a little strict on her. My mother doesn't allow her to have boyfriends, only because Pam is failing in school. Pam wants to dress in tight pants and short blouses, my mother doesn't allow it; however, Pam has an older sister who signed a petition to seek custody of Pam because she feels Pam is old enough to do these things. Everytime my mother puts Pam on punishment or disipline her, Pam's sister steps in and shields her as if my mother is mistreating her or something. My mother doesn't want to give up custody of Pam because she had her for the last 15 yrs. Pam wants to live with her older sister who is a 32 yr old single mother and has a 16yr old daughter, a 13yr old son, and a 20yr old sister who is also living with her. Pam's sister doesn't think my mom is a bad mother, she just want to get custody of Pam because that's what Pam wants. What does TN law states for something similar as this and what rights does Pam as a teenager?
