Two part question regarding IL employment law:
My fiance works as a receptionist at a Vet Hospital, and a check recently came up missing. Even though she neither accepted the check nor balanced the register that day, her employer has threatened to take the amount out of her paycheck.
The second part has to do with benefits. When she was hired, she was told that her healthcare benefits would kick in 90 days into her employment. The 90 days elapsed without her employer providing any health benefits, so she had to continue to pay for her health insurance out of pocket. She wants to ask the employer to pay for her health care insurance, as that was a condition of employment when she was hired, but is reluctant to ask because she's worried about the garnishment mentioned in the previous paragraph.
What are her rights as they pertain to the garnishment, health care, and possible retailiation by her employer should she present him with the bill for her health insurance?
Thank you.
