Young boys and girls can sleep in the same room but at what age do they require seperate rooms? I know its not an issue unless one is made of it or unless an incident arises or the children are asking for seperate rooms BUT is there an age that it is a must for seperate rooms to be available?

I cannot answer that one because it is cultural and moral and all kinds of things wrapped up in that. I suggest that you ask that question of your pediatrician or family physician, who may be able to give you a better answer.

i live in CA, and I was told by a child care worker that the age for boys and girls to have different rooms is around 4 or 5.

My brother and I shared a bedroom for a very long time. We did have our own rooms after i was about 11 and he was 12, but after that we were only separated by a wall w/o a door. We both turned out fine and the seperation was good after we reached a certain age b/c we needed time away from each other and it actually brought us closer together.

My 2 brothers and my sister and I all shared the same room ,because our family was too poor at the time for a larger house. We finally got our own rooms around the 6th grade.I think I turned out okay. Now my children that come to visit evey other weekend, share a room. The room is very lareg and there is about 10 feet from one bed to another. They respect eavh other and does not go in the room if the other one is dressing.

I know for a fact that there are states that require boy/girl siblings to have separate rooms after age 5. I don't really understand that since some families don't have extra rooms - but I'm not sure what it is in California, although I am curious because I live in California and even though my kids each have a separate room, my twins prefer sleeping in the same room together (separate beds).

When I spoke to Child Protective Services and asked this question they said the only time there are restrictions are if it were a foster family. They can't put these restrictions on regular famlies and to take it further they are not even required to have a bed or room to sleep in as long as they have a roof over their head. Absolutely astonishing!
