I have worked at this company in Illinois for four years now. I made a comment to other employees about a customer being rude,but I had used the term black guy. My manager fired me for it even though other employees have said that too. A girl I worked with there said the samething but didn't get fired because her boyfriend was black. I'm not a racist person but I don't think I was treated right in the cituation or was I. Just by using the word black doesn't mean a person is being racist.

Your employer has the right to terminate you for any reason, so long as by doing so, he/she isn't breaking any laws related to discrimination. Since you were terminated for language, rather than as a result of discrimination, your employer has the authority to have the termination stick.
