Hello, I recently filed EEOC charges against an Alaskan Native company doing business in Mississippi. The EEOC told me they could not take action against an Alaskan Native company, that they were exempt. Another employee told me he called the EEOC and was told by another EEOC employee that President Bush (Senior) signed a bill a few years ago stating that Alaskan Native companies were in fact not exempt on government contracts. (Military installation) I also talked to one attorney that told me he was not a 100% sure but he said he believes that the EEOC could take action against them and that they were not exempt. Does anyone know where I can find out who and what is correct?

go to eeoc.gov they have a web site that details the laws they cover, and a place where you can e-mail questions. Try to be detailed about the government contracts, or whatever else you may find on their site that may apply. The amount of information they have may be making the difference between what you & your co-worker are getting for answers.
