I live in the state of New York and I was in forster care. My parents now got me as a forster child and down the line I was adopted. I finished HS and am looking forward to going to college. This is my question my parents get from the state money each week for me. I work real hard and i am trying to save to get a car so it is easier for me to get back and forth to work and have a way to college. I have asked my parents for help and have been told strait out work for it. That is fine but on top of getting the amount of money they do get I am expected to also pay rent. Since I am unable to control how the money is spent or what they do with it my question is If I move out can I file for that money to go with me. I cannot see me ever getting ahead if all I do is work and my parents constantly taking my paychecks and telling me to figure it out. I will never take away from foster care and the many loving people who care but sometimes people really do go into it for all the wrong reasons. Thank you for your time.
