Can a superintendent of a prison give a directive that you have to work 10 hours a day in Missouri ?

Can a superintendent of a prison give a directive that you have to work 10 hours a day in Missouri ?

a couple of the people i know are county police officers and they work 10 hours a day but they work only 3-4 days a week. what are the days you work. and it depneds if you are exempt or non exempt.

Actually, no it doesn't depend on whether you are exempt or non-exempt. Either an exempt or a non-exempt employee can be required to work as many hours a day as the employer wishes, unless there is a bona fide contract that says otherwise. The only difference the exempt status makes is that the non-exempt worker has to be paid overtime for any hours over 40 in a week, and the exempt employee does not.
