I work for a physical rehab hospital in Georgia and currently work as a security guard/ maintenance helper. My schedule includes a turnaround period of 7 and 1/2 hours between shifts. It begins at 11:30PM - 8:00AM and then I come back in at 3:30PM - 12:00AM. Isn't there a labor law in Georgia that declares a minimum time between shifts? Shouldn't I get overtime compensation for working 16 hours in a 24-hour day? I am being paid every two weeks.

Thanx! :)

There isn't any law in Georgia mandating a minimum amount of time off between shifts. Further, Georgia requires overtime to be calculated over a work week, rather than a work day.
