We have a small incorporated family farm (less than 10 employees) in CO. After terminating an employee, how long are we required to keep them on our health insurance plan? I have been able to find an answer of 18 mos for a company that has 20 or more employees, but am unable to locate the answer that would pertain to our farm.
Thanks in advance for your time!

First of all, you do not have to continue payment of the portion of the insurance benefit covered by the employer past the termination date. Employers with at least 20 employees must offer the employee insurance benefits after termination under COBRA. The employee can be required to pay 102% of the premium in order to receive those benefits. Smaller employers do not have offer benefits past the termination date.
