Examples of verbal harassment include: berating a person in front of other people, telling racist or sexist jokes, using racial or gender slurs, threatening bodily harm, making sexual overtures, and soliciting sexual favors.

Other forms of harassment include physical abuse, innuendo that cause distress, intentional and unwelcome physical contact, actions that are threatening, humiliating or patronizing, and offensive graffiti, photos or art posted for others to see.

Sometimes, a pattern of harassment has to be established before courts rule in favor of a complainant.
