I quit my job 3 month a go but company is steal sending checks :eek:

Return the checks by registered/certified mail. Make copies to prove you did not cash them/keep records.

You can and will be held liable for repayment once the error is discovered in bookkeeping.

Ok, I cannot find anything for Illinois that says the employer cannot try and recoup the overpayment.

All you can really do now is to wait and see what happens in the event they want repayment, and if so, try and work out a deal with them for repayment.
