I work a part time job at a car dealership. it's a very relaxed atmosphere and an enjoyable job, i have been there for 6 years to supplement my income.
i recently found out that one of the salesman has been spreading lies about me and a couple of former employees. he has told people that he has slept with me, we had code words when i "wanted" him, etc. this is all completely untrue. the only contact i've ever had with him outside of work is that he offered to help me paint a new condo i had just purchased. my mother was there when he showed up. absolutely nothing happened, i am not the least bit attracted to this man. i put in my 2 weeks notice and informed the owner and general manager, had told a manager prior to this and nothing happened. they are promising me they will talk to him today while i am at my day job. i have never slept w/ any of the men at the dealership. he is saying much vulgar things about another former employee and we've been talking, but not sure what to do about it. it's a matter of he said/she said.

Two options. If you want your job back, report this behavior as sexual harassment, hostile work environment kind and ask that they discipline and counsel this person so you can go back to work. Other option, if you can prove publication, possible defamation action for publicly tarnishing your good name in your community, the workplace. I think if you talk to the employer that they can talk to this person or fire them. This is clearly hostile work environment sexual harassment.

thank you very much for the reply. i have heard from one employee last evening they questioned him about having an affair with me, this is the person who originally told me what this salesperson said. i have never slept with anyone from the dealership. this has caused me to lose sleep, they have called me at my day job to question me about another lawsuit pending with another employee that i was a witness to. i am seriously considering not finishing out my 2 weeks. it's a shame i have always been dedicated to this job and dealership and would have liked to stay, but now i find it impossible to contemplate staying.
