Ms.Roxie 05-15-2005, 10:55 PM How many days notice does a landlord need to give a tenant of a rent in increase? How many days does said landlord need to renew leases? elklaw 05-16-2005, 06:17 AM First, you should look at the terms of the lease as most speak to the timeframe that rent increases and notices need to be sent. Usually, on a 30 day month to month lease, one month notice, unless otherwise written. Usually, on a one year lease, 60-90 days notice of rent increase prior to lease expiration/renewal. Also, state law should be consulted as it will usually have terms if they are not written into a lease. Ms.Roxie 05-16-2005, 09:37 AM Thank you for your help, Elklaw. My land lord has given only verbal notice of said rent increase of 50%. he also gavea letter telling where we mail our payments, there was no notice of rent increase only where to mail. My lease has been up since Aug, 2004 and he will not talk term for new lease. He wants NNN lease now and won't fix anything. He also raising rent not honornig lease of another tenants. : :( |
