I went to the doctor because of a high fever and flu symptoms. The doctor gave me one medication for the upset stomach. It knocked me out so hard I stopped taking it after three pills (30 in the bottle... take every 6 hours) My vision when I woke up the next morning was terribly blurry. I called the Doctor and she said to go to the ER. So I go to the hospital and they do some tests. And basically come back with the medication caused my vision to go from 20/15 (just has an eye exam last month) to 20/50 in one day (5 days after the last pill was taken, so they said it was out of my system). I have been getting a ride from a buddy to work because I am just not able to drive that well.

It seems to be progressively getting worse. They just told me to go to the Eye Doctor. My insurance only covers every 2 years.
I am just frustrated and don't want to dish out money for eye surgery or exams and contacts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can contact a medical malpractice attorney, but Indiana is a tort reform state, so there is an administrative process that you have to go thru prior to being able to file in court, and even then, your damages are limited. You may want to return back to the doctor who did your care and find out why you were prescribed the pill that you were that caused the blurred vision. This is one of those situations where you could have had a condition that you, nor the doctor knew about that caused your vision to blur. Or it could be that medicine prescribed in combination with other medicines or something else that you had ate or taken already prior to going to the doctor. It could be many things, some the doctor may be liable for, or just unforeseen and unknown things too. Most attorneys offer free consultation. I think once you can find out enough to know why you received that medicine and more about that medicine and how it may have affected you, you can decide if you want to go thru the medical malpraactice process to at least receive monies for your eye care and treatment, and how that is impacting your ability to earn a living and support yourself.
