I have a question regarding something very basic about being exempt in Ohio.

I realize that being exempt means you're paid the same no matter if you work 30-50 hours/week. My question then is: what can happen to morale in a company when an exempt individual consistently works 30 hours per week, their job is always done and they always get their salary? Wouldn't that have a bad effect on the morale of other exempt employees in the office?

HI,
Actually, that sounds to me like it could be inspiring to others -- to be able to complete all your work in a 30 hour workweek.
How do you see this creating low morale?
Is it because others are given extra work which equals more hours?

Sue, with out getting into all the gory details, let's just say most people don't find it "inspring". Under different circumstances, yes, not ours.

Hi Jeff,

I realize there are many side to every coin; just in the example you used though, if a company pays employees a full week's salary for 30 hours work, that would be GREAT for morale, unless as I stated, there were exceptions where others had to work, say 50 hours, to get the same pay.
