My husband is currently out of the country on deployment and his Ex-wife is trying to get a temp order of child support. I was told a temp order can't be granted if the parent can't be served. Also, I read the Soldier and Sailor act, which seems to keep him safe. Does anyone know if this is true ? Washington State laws

I am a former JAG so what you speak is true, but the military is serious that dependents receive care. Contact the military parent's command. There should be a family welfare and morale officer left behind and request assistance from him in getting the military parent to sign whatever paperwork is necessary for the child to receive the dependent portion of his pay via direct allotment to you as the child's representative. After that or preferbly, prior to that, go to the JAG office as they can represent the child as a military dependent and make sure the child is signed up for military dependent benefits and gets a military dependent ID card and request the immediate starting of the dependent portion of pay allotment and for child support. You will need to get a child support order, should be able to get an interim order, that can be served on military for child support allotment to start. You need to take all of the child's information, especially birth certificate with the military member listed as a parent that is officially and notarized. Good luck.

Hello, I have had this same experience with my husband and his ex. she actually got it against my husband but we are currently involved in a court dispute over it trying to show no proof of proper service was made.
