 I am looking to adopt a baby girl who is a year old. Her mom says that the guy who signed her birth certificate is the father, but when he took the blood test it showed that he was not the father. My question is if she has no idea who the father is, because she has been with so many that she cannot remember, how will this effect the adoption?

That is a matter for the court to decide. As a practical matter, the court can inquire as to who she thinks is the father and try to locate them, but if the father is truly unknown, the court may sign off on the adoption anyway, but that will be up to the court based on the evidence available and the situation. It is hard on you because the father could come back someday and try to have the adoption voided, but if the court rules on paternity in the context of the adoption decree, that should protect you in the future.

Hello this is from my own as an adoptive mom information only. In most states if the father is unknown you may be required by law to advertise or try by whatever methods the law in that state has for this specific situation try to find this unknown father thru ads in papers etc for a specific period of time then if NO father steps forward and proves paternity then the court will terminate on an unknown or unnamed father. I would check your state laws or those of the state the child was born in if different then where you now live at. Was this child placed thru an agency? Lawyer privately etc. Those whom placed the child will know the laws and can handle this matter for you. Best wishes
