Hi!
Well although I don't find it to be illegal to fire him because he doesn't have a driver's license because job description has changed where it's requiring him to have one. It's sort of like qualifications so it sounds like his job qualifications are changing. Maybe he can work it out with his manager to do other duties.
I think his breaks and lunch is contingent on his hours he's working. I know if he works eight hours then he should get lunch and break. To make sure, contact your state wage and hour division. they have different laws for minors. You can also do a search for minor employment law for your state.
good luck!

Federal law does not require lunch or coffee breaks.

However, when employers do offer short breaks (usually lasting about 5 to 20 minutes), federal law considers the breaks work-time that must be paid.

As far as being fired for not having a driving license, you do not state why---is it now requried that that your son have one? If so, has the company made that policy?

Right now, it sounds like the grapevine may not be the best source of information for your son...and he should contact your local office of the Labor Department.
