I work in an almost all male invoroment + military backgrounds. I have been cussed, made fun of, and been sexually harrassed. I was off last year for 12 weeks really sick and used the FMLA. The day I returned I was made to go out in the sleet and snow and wash vehicles. I was not given the job back that I left with. I was told they would slowly put me back into it. They moved all my personal stuff from my desk to another place, and a man was taking my place. The second day back my supervisor and I had words,
he called me names and told me I would never do the job I had before because I messed it all up. All the time sticking a radio up in my face. I was told to write out and go home. I refused and went to talk to our manager. In 2 days I was taken in a office with the manager and the supervisor and told I was in the wrong, they had me crying so hard I couldnt even talk. I promised that night to get along with my supervisor and that it was my fault just so I could get out of there. I talked to a woman over our contract and she wrote a cease and desist for violence in the workplace to my 3 boss's. They then sent another lady
to investigate, nothing was ever done about the boss's. I got the job back but then they where doing stuff like taking my files, and acting like its me just being over emotional if I said something. When time came for my evaluation my 2nd supervisor told me to do it myself. Finally the other guys in the shop complained about the one boss, and they put him working somewhere else. Meanwhile I get stuck doing his job which I was doing all the time anyway for about $3.00 less an hour. They opened up the job for 1 day when I was out of town and I couldnt apply for it. When I complained they said there was another job comming open doing what I was doing just not a supervisor. So I waited to apply for that one. Now that job has to have a degree in computers but the lead job does'nt???? My main boss finally did my review and it was good. Also everybody got a bonus except for me. The lady in the office called to find out why and they said that it must of gotten lost. They would send me another that was a month ago. I never got paid my short term disability when I was off sick, they said they called the insurance company and they never recieved the papers. That was 3 months ago. Not only do I make less then the last guy, I will have to train the new ones.
Anyway this is where I am. I also have keep every email and documented everything.

Wow...I know how you feel. I've been in the same time of environment before. I see a couple of issues here.

1) You should have been returned to the same or similar job, in terms of working conditions, responsibilities and compensation, if you returned from FMLA within 12 weeks. If not, your rights under FMLA have been violated.
2) It sounds like there is a potential retaliation going on for you raising a complaint. That is also illegal.

My suggestion to you is this. You can read more about discrimination at www.eeoc.gov. It will also tell you how to file a complaint. You may want to do just that.

Or, as an alternative, you can go up the chain of command within the company you are working for. As a federal contractor, they are under very strict regulations to ensure that there is affirmative action and an environment free from discrimination. Good luck and keep us informed as to what happens. Don't get discouraged. It's situations such as what you are going through that causes discrimination laws to exist.
