· A part of Superior Court where you can sue for amounts of up to $3500.
· The only exception to the $3500 limit is a suit brought for the return of a security deposit. In this situation ONLY, the plaintiff may sue for double the amount of the security deposit, plus accrued interest, even if the doubled amount brings the claim over the $3500 jurisdictional limit.
· You do not need an attorney.
· Magistrates (specially appointed lawyers) hear the cases.
· Simple rules of evidence apply, instead of complex rules.
· No right to appeal the outcome.
Please contact me again if you have any questions.
Yours truly,
Lucy

Small Claims Courts will hear a case up to its jurisdictional limit, usually a certain dollar amount, or a certain case type. Small claims courts are sometimes their own courts and are typically either their own court, a division within a larger court system, or an existing local or town court is designated as the court in an area to hear small claims cases. The jurisdictional amount will vary from court to court, along with the structure of the small claims court and whether it is its own court, a division of a larger court, or a special role taken on by an existing court.
