State subsidized housing is developed through various programs, each having unique eligibility requirements. Generally speaking, the income guidelines require that resident's income not exceed 80/90% of the median income for the area in which they live, although some programs target families whose incomes do not exceed 60% of median income. The median income is the amount between the highest and lowest income of a particular area. Other factors may affect eligibility. Therefore, it is best to contact the manager of the development in which you have an interest.
