I lost my two children to my ex in 1997,one boy one girl. Three years ago she decided she could not handle my son anymore.I have been raising him every since .There was only one problem , I did not take the steps to reverse the court order of my ex being the managing conservator, and collecting child support. My son came to my home, a hair shy of being a juvinile delinquet. I corrected his behavior and now he is doing fine. But, she has been giving me hints of coming back for him.I have to get on the ball and get something done before she has an opportunity to take him back . Besides another nasty court fight, I have nothing to stand on, right now.I need to know the steps to take to modify our court order and terminate the child support pro se. Can any provide me with this info. THANKS AFNAM

File a petition for modification of custody and support. You need to ask for primary physical custody of the son and to have any child support arrearage based on the time you cared for the son credited to you and if you want, imposed on her. You can do this on your own, but it is strongly suggested that you hire an attorney. Most will provide a free consultation. Get moving on it ASAP.

Elklaw where can the forms for motions be found. There has to be a book or program that shows a para legal or attorneys what guidelines to follow when typing up these orders . Should I follow the guidlines of my present motion and change the wording ? I know an attorney can do these things,BUT
the majority of them are Very busy and expensive. This motion that I need can be handled in one court appearence , I am capable of performing the language.I just dont know where to find the guides to creating a written form In the courts language.

I am in a very close situation to this....I would be anxious to know if you have found any info to do a modification yourself.

Click on link to Us legalforms and when there click on "states" then your state, then family law forms.
http://www.uslegalforms.com/enter.cgi?elklaw
You can get commonly used legal forms for any state and most family law forms thru USlegalforms.com and if you need to pay someone to prepare the forms, it is likely cheaper than hiring an attorney.
