First, I would like to know how is it that the people that owe child-support are able to go with out paying for so long. I am dealing with Ohio state in this matter. My son is 11, i have raised him with my husband of 8 years . . No problems doing so, however, 4 years ago, Iwent after his father for child-support. He was visiting him and trying to establish a relationship with him. With coaxing from his fathers parents, i went after him for child support. He was paying for about 6 months. Then , nothing. He has been served and in court many times. He now owes over $5000.00. Everytime he goes into court, they slap him on the wrist and say pay or else go to jail. So , he makes a $20.00 payment, and they throw out the contempt order. Then the cycle continues. He is also living with a married woman who has 4 kids, one of the kids is not his, but was given his last name., good for them. he works under the table, and has a daughter from his ex-wife. I was in the hospital 2 years ago for pre-term labor of my twins. My son was visiting his father and grandparetnts at the time, but had to stay a couple extra weeks while they were trying to stop the labor. In that time, his father physicaly ,emotionaly, and verbaly hurt my son. Also, his father has had no contact what so ever since that summer. My son, is now in therepy because of him and very depressed. He has not only stated to his thereipst and myself, but also a letter to his father that he does not want anything to do with him ever. He has felt like this for a long time. After all my rambling.. i need to know if and how i can have him sign off parental rights. I thought since he shows no interest in my son and vise-versa and owes so much in child support that it would not be that hard to do so. I have no clue how to get started, where to go, how to go about doing it. I dont want a mess, i just want him to sign off. He can keep his money and support someone elses kids for all i care. I just need to get him legally out of my son life.
