My Fiance' was informed today that her salary was being cut, and she's now being put on an hourly wage... Her job includes traveling out of state, and her doctor has written a note stating that travel is ok, but if she needed to rest, to allow brief periods of getting off her feet. Her boss is giving every excuse under the sun on why she can't travel, because she's pregnant, even though her doctor says it's ok, and then tells her that she's not able to perform her duties.. thus the reason for the wage cut. Of course, this is all speculation on his part... She is under contractual obligation to repay an outstanding loan to her company in excess of $30,000, with a reasonable amount coming out every pay period. This reduction in pay seriously impairs her ability to pay the bills she has now, even though at the time the loan was drawn up and put into effect, she stated the same. There's lots of other things to consider in this scenario as well, but way too many to put in one thread. I could use some help on this one... The pay cut knocks off 2 full days worth of pay, if you do the math... Sucks bigtime... I'm thinking discrimination... but I'm no legal guru.... She's able to do all the things she normally would, but isn't even getting the opportunity. Also, another reason for the reduction, was because "sales figures were down"... Apparently, they aren't taking into account that you can't sell if the company doesn't HAVE THE PRODUCT... lol... go figure... We're in LA, California... Any advice would be great... ASAP. :)
