A couple days after asking a question here on another topic, I came home to find an eviction noticed taped on my front door. Apparently after years of having the sewer back up into everyone's bathtubs and toilets, they're finally going to do something about it. Unfortunately, the pipes need to be taken out from inside of my apartment. I've been given 30 days to vacate since my lease just expired. While many who write in here get less than that, it's still an inconvenience, especially as I have no money to put down for a deposit elsewhere. But 30 days is what the contract calls for. My question is on whether or not it was legal to evict me instead of relocating me to another apartment. The manager is still telling other people that apartments are available, but he told me that there were none and I'd have to leave. I'm starting to wonder if there was truth to anything he said at all.

You may not like it, but your lease provisions were followed and no new lease was completed, so there was no obligation to retain you or offer you another unit. Also, maybe they assumed that you were planning to leave. If you want to stay, maybe you need to communicate that to them and maybe they may consider allowing you to move.
