needhelp123 01-13-2004, 07:08 AM If you are pregnant and 'showing', will that help in your AOS interview
(I would assume so.)
And will they want medical proof of the father? (I'm not admitting
anything here, just wondering what I'll have to go thru.)
thanks for any help.

Depends on the country you are from. Others using the Philipphine US
Consulate and the one in Thailand did have to prove that the USC was
indeed the father of the child.
As for medical proof, both couples were asked to provide proof that the
USC was with the beneficiary at the time of conception.
There was one couple here in the States going for AOS after marriage and
the Baltimore District USCIS office required DNA testing to prove the
paternity of the child.

NYState of Mind 01-13-2004, 08:29 AM Good question!! I am pregnant also and am not planning on saying
anything unless of course I really can't hide it. I don't think I need
to say anything about my pregnancy especially since anything can happen
from now until the actual day I give birth. Not to sound mobid but it's
the truth and a reality. I'm playing it by ear for now.

That gave me a giggle!!! Umm, let me see I may have videotaped our
lovemaking session when we were trying to conceive. You got to be
kidding me? What kind of proof did they actually want? Just curious...

Of course you have to tell them. You need a medical. As a pregnant
woman you can't have the xray to determine whether you have TB or not.
Nor can you get some of the required immunizations. Don't think you are
thinking to clearly ;-) It must be hormonal.

Airline tickets (used), hotel bills, etc. to prove you were in the same
city, country as your fiancee.
I'm sorry but I don't think it is funny nor would I kid about
such a matter.

Why in the world would I have to get x-rays, TB shot, or any
vaccinations for the matter, etc. when I am an American citizen and
I'm not the one immigrating. Doesn't make sense to me. I don't need
to medical examinations at the interview do I? Just does't make
sense to me.
I'm sorry Rete I didn't mean to make light of it I just found it kind of
amusing (probaby my weird sense of humor) that i would have to prove to
the U.S. government that is was indeed my husband who is the one who got
me pregnant.

Want to talk about not funny. When I was going through the process of
getting married in Morocco, one of the requirements was for me to take a
medical exam. I didn't know anything about this before hand, we had
gathered all of the necessary documentation and proof, as we understood
it. We found out that this was the very last thing that we had to bring
to the Judge in Marakesh in order for him to give us the marriage
license that we would then take to the preist who actually performs the
ceremony. I thought this was going to be your run of the mill physical
exam. Wrong, it was a pregnancy test. If I had been pregnant we would
not have been able to be married until we proved paternity. Nice. Good
thing I wasn't pregnant.

My son was born in mexico. We went to mexico embassy to get his
papers. Me and my wife was asked to show proof of our relationship
before conception. If you have pictures of you and your husband before
you were pregnant there shouldnt be a problem.

NYState of Mind 01-14-2004, 01:19 AM [QUOTEMy son was born in mexico.
I think Needhelp123 and myself are asking questions about our pregnancy
PRIOR to our births. I can't speak for her but my question is
If I am not "showing" and I'm not the one immigrating to the United
States (because I'm the USC who is petitioning for my husband) and we
are at our interview in London, do I have to tell them I am pregnant?
What business of it is theirs? I'm not the one that has to do any
medicals, do I? Not from what I read. So why do I need to tell the
U.S. Government that I am "with child"? The reason I have a **huge**
problem with telling them is because anything can happen with the
pregnancy. Don't want to sound morbid or anything but it's a fact of
life and some women's pregnancies don't make it to full term. Anyway,
so basically if the baby is not in my arms what does it matter then?
And I am being rationale about this. There are no hormones factoring in
on this question or comment of mine!! : )

Maggs 01-14-2004, 05:52 AM Hi
You and the OP have similar questions for different interviews. They
are asking about their AOS interview in which it would be very important
to determine the paternity of the child and you are (I think) asking
about being the USC going to the consulate interview with your husband.
I don't know the answer to your question though.

How was I to know you are the USC 1/2 of a couple. You talked about not
telling anyone at USCIS so I assumed you were the foreign 1/2 and were
trying to hide it from them.
My apologies.
