On a out of town business trip with our general manager of a restaurant, our GM placed myself and another female coworker in a single hotel room with two beds. When we arrived I was informed that I had an option to either sleep with him in his bed or with the other female. He then proceeded to remove all clothing down to his bikini underwear and laid out on top of his bedspread and watched TV and made phone calls. The other female coworker and I were so upset and extremely uncomfortable with this situation. The coworker had a camera and was able to snap a picture of him which greatly upset him. However he did nothing to cover himself or correct the situation. We did try to determine why we had to share a room and/or bed with our mostly naked supervisor and were given no real answer. We were so bothered by this that we left the hotel room to go for a walk and I was so upset by everthing that I could not go back to that room. My coworker/assistant manager felt she was obligated to return to keep her job secure but only after waiting long enough for him to be asleep. I phoned a friend in a neighboring city and asked my friend to come pick me up, give me a place to stay for the night and a ride home the next day(200miles away) I did not know what affect this would have on my job. Our GM was known to keep explict and sexually offending pictures of big breasted women hanging in the general office.
Within 1 1/2 months of the fiasco on the business trip, the assistant manager was let go and then I was also dismissed under questionable grounds. Up until we were fired the working relationship between the GM and both the assistant manager and I became increasingly uncomfortable. We feel that we have been sexually harrassed on this occassion and many others leading to our dismissal. What can we do? Where do we go to find legal advice and assistance? Please help us. The business is located in a small town(pop. 800) in Oregon. The business trip however was located 200 miles away in Boise, Idaho. We appreciate any advice on this matter.

What a sleezy guy. This would clearly be a violation of federal anti-discrimination law. However, your employer must have at least 15 employees to be covered by federal law. It appears that Oregon recognizes protection against sexual harassment for employers with as few as one employee. I encourage you to file a complaint against your employer with the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries.
