hi everybody!

i have a question :) my girlfriend lives in manila & her US citizen bf
is coming over to visit her.....the bf wants to file an application to
get her there but wants the fastest way. So what do you recommend they
do? get married there & file for I-130 or just file for a fiance visa
for her?

thanks in advance for all the coming replies :)

DCF is the fastest way but Manila does not do DCF so that's out. That
leaves two options: marrying and filing an I-130 followed by an I-129F
for a K-3 (about six months the way things are going now at the
Missouri Service Center - all K-3 applications are processed in
Missouri) or filing an I-129F for a K-1 so she can come here and get
married. Since I-129Fs for K-1s are handled by different Service
Centers depending on where the USC lives, the speed of this approach
varies. This option would only be faster than option 1 if the USC
lives in the area served by the Vermont Service Center - any state
north and east (and including) Pennsylvania, West Virginia and
Virginia. Otherwise option 1 is your best bet.

Bill,

The K3 option is not necessarily faster than the K1 at service centers
other than the VSC. You are over-simplifying the situation and are
making some assumptions that may or may not be valid.

One needs to consider how quickly they can be prepared to submit an I-
129f for fiancee, and compare it to the time required to travel to the
foreign country, get married, and then prepare to submit an I-130
followed by an I-129f for spouse.

It is quite possible that if one is prepared to submit an I-129f for
fiancee promptly, the K1 will be faster than the K3 no matter which
service center is involved.

Regards, JEff
