I live in NY.. I have worked for the same factory for 21 years. I have always been on time, never take time off from work. The previous supervisor always gave me great reveiws. then this person retired. The woman who took the supervisor position, does nothing but hound me everyday. she loves to belittle me in front of people, gives me aweful reviews, will not comunicate info to me relating to the job, constantly changes my hours, then yells if i come in at the wrong time ( she makes a schedule out everyday and loves to change it after i went home ) she is so nasty to me, if she catches me smiling, she yells and tells me if i have time to smile then i am not doing my job, and loads more on me.( I am a happy go lucky person and am always smiling, its my nature and cant help it ) she looks at my hands everyday for jewlery, i never wear any, never have. but its things like this i put up with everyday. not to mention she tells me her kids are smarter then me. the list goes on and on. I am not the only one she rides like that, but i get the worst of it. I have gone to her boss many times, and she chills out for a couple days, but then it starts all over again, i cry often and never have been like this before. I dont know what else to do.. she refuses my requests for vacations, and so on.. just pick pick pick. If I deserve a chewing for something I have done wrong, then I take it and walk away, but every hour she hunts me out and just chews me for something, anything, in front of everybody. is there anything I can do about this?

This person sounds like the "manager of the year". In any case, unless the reason behind this person's actions are because of illegal reasons such as discrimination on the basis of age, race, religion, gender, national origin, disability and any other status protected by federal, state or local law, there is little that can be done from a legal standpoint.

What you can do is go up the chain-of-command and let people know what is happening.

Man,human being is really strange. I never taught that I was a victim of sexual harrassement until I wnt to the school of nursing at FIU and I read the thing. I said my Goodness, it is like that. That is impossible.All my friends at worked realized that I was oppressed, humiliated, held back by my coordinator. They always told me, man you are an Haitian man give her what she wants, so you will see peace comes soon. I have just smiled but I said forget about it, until yesterday I was in big trouble with the director, my coordinator, and after 3 nights without sleeping in a row , that I realized my mistakes not reporting her before. May be faith . I don't know. I am waiting for a miracle to put me out of this mess, this hate.

Thank you for you help.. I was hoping there was something that could be done, but the harassment I get doesnt follow in those catergories. Unless weight is considered under one of those catorgories. she loves to make fun of fat people. Its a shame bosses are allowed to treat people like this. I have never had words with her, I never get nasty back, I have always shown respect to her just because she is my supervisor. I really enjoy working there, I am in control of a training program we have. So I am not doing the actual line work. But like I said, I am not the only one she rides, but I am the one she rides the most. Today, she stood behind one of the workers, constantly yelling at him for getting behind. And I mean yelling.. It got so bad, that he broke down and cried and walked off the job. I have gone higher in the chain of commands, but it does no good. She just keeps getting away with it.. hopefully, someday, it will change...
