Hi: Does anyone have an update on the proposed change to the California Meal Period requirement?

That change stated that under the proposed regulations, an employer will be deemed to have provided a meal period to an employee in compliance with the Labor Code if the employer makes the meal period available to the employee and affords the employee the opportunity to take it.

This would be a welcomed addition to the Meal Period Requirement, and I was just wondering if it is implemented yet, and if not, how soon can California Employers expect to see this long needed addition to the Labor Code?

Thanking all who respond in advance.

Paul

This is what I found. It was sent to committee. It is not possible to say how long it will be in committee...hopefully, not long.
