I was sitting here thinking and I was wondering, just think if somebody
was gay and met somebody else that was gay on the internet. So if they
wanted to get married, then they could not file any marriage-based visa.

I wonder if any of the gay rights people have ever brought this up?
What would they do? I guess there are other visas to get.

I was just thinking how sad that is because I am sure that has
happened before.

Not if you are gay......when Bush signed the "Defense of Marriage Act",
it stated that "marriage is between a man and a woman" and as such, this
extends to domestic partners.

I have a friend of mine in Alaska that is gay, and I don't think he has
a partner now, but it DOES seem silly that gay couples can't bring in
their spouses under our visa laws. Other countries such as Holland and
the UK are MUCH more accepting and liberal about stuff like this.

There is always the option to move to the other country.
It works rather well in Holland. Not that there's anything wrong with
that. ;)

It was not Bush. Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act on September 21,
1996.

He signed the bill at 2:00am to avoid press coverage.
