After a long flight, I found myself in the Visitors line at Immigration.
At first there were only 2 desks open, then more opened until there were
about 5 open. The officer at the head of my line was very slow, and
nearly an hour passed before I was seen. :( However, on presenting her
with my K1 visa and MBE, she reminded me I have 90 days in which to get
married, and told me not to leave the US until after I have adjusted my
status. My rolled-up XRay remained, forgotten and unloved, in my bag.
The 'interview' had only taken 3 or 4 minutes, most of that while she
worked out where 90 days would take me! I was free to go! :D Big sigh
of relief, broad grin crept across my face as I rushed through baggage
reclaim and customs and went to check it back in for my onward flight.
I have been here in Arkansas three days now, and am still getting over
the jet lag! I was thinking I'd have a little break from USCIS stuff -
but there is plenty more officialdom and paperwork on the horizon - SSN,
DL, AOS, EAD, AP - all those previously mysterious acronyms are starting
to come to life! But first, I have a wedding to plan .......
Debbie :)
