Actually it was a week ago today, but my wife's passport was stamped
during our second appearance in Arlington. Other than waiting for two
hours past our appointment time, the experience was utterly uneventful.
We had been sent a notice to reappear after the first interview ended
with a request for a Td vaccination which was unavailable at the time
the paperwork was filed.
She naturally had this taken care of, but the second notice was sent out
presumably oblivious to the fact that we complied with the instructions.
This turned out to be an accurate assessment...the woman who saw us this
time told us that she wasn't allowed to see the file until that day, so
she didn't know that the revised medical record was in it. (So, Rete,
it turns out you were dead-on with your comments). Anyway, the official
reviewed the file for a few minutes and asked for the passport. Then,
we got the obligatory removal of conditions speech and were on our away
to enjoy a Mexican, ahem, reasonable facsimile for Mexican, lunch.
So, it seems we're done with "them"...for a while anyway! :)

Congratulations! I wish we could go to Arlington since we're in
Gaithersburg, and not have to travel up to Baltimore all the time! :)

Well, tell me about it. We are three hours from Arlington and have been
there four times in the last eight months. I would have actually
preferred Baltimore, because my parents live in Wilmington, DE...it's a
day's work (a.k.a. vacation) one way or the other and that way we could
eliminate the hotel room.
But we can't pick and choose, can we?
Best of luck...

Hi John,
First off, congratulations.
How long ago was your AOS interview?
My wife and I had ours at Arlington nearly 9 months ago and have not
heard back from them yet. We went to the office twice to see what was
going on and they said it was out of their hands because they were
waiting for the background checks to come back and that the only thing
we could do was wait.

Our interview was in June...the background checks had presumably been
done in advance, since we weren't told at the time that there was
anything lacking on this. It was just the vaccination.
That seems like an inordinate length of time. Have you asked for a
congressman's intervention. If you live in Virginia, Sen. Allen's
office was very responsive to getting information on our previously
stalled AP application.
